Welcome Pixel, Phone by Google!

The name may sound familiar, and that’s because Google has used the name before for consumer hardware products. Google is now bringing a better Google experience by bringing hardware and software designs together.

Pixel is designed with a rear glass, 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on the front display and back glass which has a polished aluminum body, and a smooth rounded edge from top to bottom. Pixel features it’s fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone rather than the front, for a more natural feel. And for all those iPhone users who hate this one particular feature you’d be glad to know, there is no camera bump. 😉

Pixel is available in a 5″ or 5.5″ display and three colors, Quite Black, Very Silver, and a limited edition Really Blue.

Software Features and Security Updates

Pixel is running the newest Android OS, Nougat. Unlike other Android devices, any software or security updates that are released will be automatically available directly from Google. The update will download and install in the background and run once the phone is rebooted. No more waiting for your carrier to push a patch that was released a month ago for a major vulnerability! Kudos to Google on this great feature.

Pixel has Google assistant built in. Google Assistant is your personal assistant and is ready to have a fluent conversation with you at any time. It can help you send messages, set reservations, brief you on your day, etc. All you need to do is touch and hold the home button or say the trigger word and Assistant will jump in.

And no matter which OS your friends are running, Android or iOS, Pixel comes with Google Duo and Allo pre-installed so you can continue chatting. (Google Duo allows you to preview what your friend is doing before answering the call. Allo is Google’s new messaging app that was released last month.)

Having issues with your phone? Customer services is built in with 25/7 live customer care which can be reached via phone call or chatting on your phone. Having trouble describing your issue ? – use the screen-share option to show a representative exactly what is happening as it happens.

With customers still in mind, Google has made it easy to transfer everything u care about to your new Pixel from your previous phone. It will assist you in transferring contacts, photos, videos, text, calendar, and your imessages!

DxO Mark Mobile has given Pixel a score of 89, which out ranks the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with a score of 88 and the iPhone 7 with a score of 86.

Pixel has a 12.3MP camera and 4/2.0 aperture and big 1.55 micron pixels that captures a ton of light. You can also take Smartburst, which takes a bursts of pictures and then automatically chooses the best photo.

And if you are trying to capture a great video while you’re moving Pixel’s video stabilization will have your video turn out extremely smooth!

The best part about your photos and videos, free unlimited storage for photos and videos at full resolution in Google Photos exclusively for Pixel owners!

Battery Life

What good are all these features if your phone is always dying? According to Google, Pixel can give you up to 7 hours of power with just 15 minutes of charging. “Let me charge my phone real quick,” just became literal.

Where to Purchase

Pixel is available for pre-order starting today in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Germany, and Australia. Pre-orders in India will begin October 13.

Google has partnered with Verizon to make Pixel available all retail outlets nationwide, including Best Buy. You can also purchase it unlocked at the Google store starting at $649 or $27/month.
